History's been made at the Olympics as Heather Stanning won Britain's first ever gold medal in women's rowing. Alongside her partner Helen Glover, the 27 year old from Lossiemouth also won Team GB's first gold of the games. Later tonight it might get even better as Michael Jamieson from Glasgow swims in the 200 metres breaststroke - if he wins, he'll be the first Scotsman to take a gold in the pool in nearly 40 years. In other news; Three men have died and a fourth has been airlifted to hospital after a multiple car crash in Cumbernauld. The accident happened at lunchtime. Emergency services are still at the scene trying to piece together what happened. In local news; Edinburgh council's scandal hit property repairs service is facing a complete overhaul. The council says it's taking action following serious allegations about how it has worked. It's now considering various options for handling statutory repairs. Also in sport; Celtic are in Champions League action at Parkhead tonight for the first leg of a third round qualifier against HJK Helsinki. Neil Lennon has some injury concerns but no official world from the Celtic camp on whether Anthony Stokes or Kris Commons will be fit to play.
